Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience

Canada’s healthcare system has long been a point of pride and pillar of the country’s national identity. But COVID-19 brought these systems to the brink of collapse across Canada, harming healthcare workers and significantly impeding patient care. Urgent action is required.

That’s why AstraZeneca partnered with the London School of Economics and the World Economic Forum, to launch the global Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience, motivated by a shared goal of improving healthcare systems that are better prepared to withstand future crises and stresses over the long-term. Through PHSSR, a report titled Sustainability and Resilience in the Canadian Health System, developed by the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, was released on November 16, 2022. It sets out a series of policy recommendations that focus on the need for continued collaboration and urgent pursuit of improvements in the Canadian health system.
